The Prime Minister of St. Maarten the Honorable Sarah Wescot-Williams welcomed the students and attendants at the opening of the King’s Games soccer tournament celebrating the inauguration of King Willem Alexander at the Johan Cruyf Field in Belvedere on Friday.
The Prime Minister addressed especially the young participants in the crowd and made them aware why the activity was such an important one: “I welcome the coaches, teachers, volunteers and especially our students at this important event here this morning. I would like to explain our youth that are here today that this is a very special event: you are joining millions of young people across the Kingdom in observing the inauguration of a new King for the Kingdom of the Netherlands on the 30th of April. Prince Willem Alexander will become King of the House of Orange and that is why we are sporting the orange color here today. On St. Maarten we have organized this soccer tournament as one of the events to show that St. Maarten too is celebrating the inauguration of a new king. So I wish you all good luck as we celebrate in our way,” said the Prime Minister to the eager crowd.
