St John’s, Antigua – President of the West Indies Cricket Board Dr. Julian Hunte has sent congratulations to the West Indies team on their Test victory against Pakistan at the Guyana National Stadium.
"You have filled the people of the Caribbean with pride and on behalf of the Board of Directors and the cricketing family I extend heartiest congratulations to the entire team for the outstanding performance," Dr. Hunte said.
"We have had many challenges in Test cricket and we have all been longing for a Test win for two year so it is especially pleasing to see the team making progress from drawing matches to winning and it is now for the team to making winning a habit," Dr. Hunte said in the message to Team Manager Richie Richardson.
"The victory comes after two consecutive One Day International victories so it shows that the team is demonstrating that it is eager to win, even from situations which may appearare dire," Dr. Hunte observed.
"Convey my commendations to Captain Darren Sammy, Coach Ottis Gibson, Ravi Rampaul, Devendra Bishoo, Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Lendl Simmons who all played significant roles in ensuring victory," Dr Hunte said.
"It was however heartening that more than the individual performances, the victory has been heralded by all as a complete team effort and that is what most pleases the people of the Caribbean.
"We re-commit ourselves to continue offering the support of the Board and like the team keep improving as we all work together for the benefit and advancement of West Indies cricket as we look forward to continued successes," Dr. Hunte added.
