Philipsburg Jubilee Library promotes ‘Raising Readers’ as of November

Philipsburg Jubilee Library is building on its “reading is fundamental” purpose by launching “Raising Readers” program aimed at instilling the joy of hearing a story and ultimately reading a story in babies, their parents, teachers and other caregiver.

Set to start in November, “Raising Readers” will he held at the library in the Adolphus Building on W.J.A. Nisbeth Road every Wednesday from 10:00am to 11:00am. “Raising Readers is aimed at children ages two to five. A library staff member or volunteer will read and sing with the toddlers and their caregivers. The hour will be billed as a fun, interactive program with sing-alongs of classic nursery rhymes and the telling of stories.

The library has contacted daycares to get on board with the “Raising Readers” program. If your day daycare has not been contacted yet by the library, call the library on + 1 721 542 2970 to schedule a date.

Philipsburg Jubilee Library has hosted its “Read to Me Book Start” campaign since 2010 and
Rhyme Time activities since 2013 to motivate parents and caregivers to read to their babies/toddlers as
often as possible. This programs are built on the concept that reading to children on a daily basis reinforces the bond between parents and children.
