On March 27th, the Honorable Mr. Jernej Videtic, EU Ambassador at the European Delegation to Guyana, visited Sint Maarten with his Head for Cooperation Karel Lizerot. During their stay, the delegation conducted a site visit to Dutch Quarter where currently the sewerage system is being upgraded, financed through the 10th European Development Fund. Furthermore, site visits were conducted to the proposed locations for EU-funded shelters with multi-purpose functions as well as a proposed site for a new Waste Water Treatment Plant in Cay Bay.
For Mr. Lizerot, it was the first time visiting Sint Maarten after his recent appointment of Head of Cooperation. The Ambassador and Mr. Lizerot were pleased to see the progress being made on Sint Maarten after the devastating hurricane season of 2017. Their visit reiterated the EU’s commitment to support Sint Maarten in its rebuilding and development efforts.
