St. Maarten Medical Center completes Certified Nursing Assistant Course for Saba

On Friday November 23rd five employees of the Saba Health Care Foundation; Benevolent Foundation graduated as certified Nursing Assistants. They each completed a 7 month course to obtain their certification from May to November 2018.
Nurse Brunilda and Antonio Pantophlet of the St. Maarten Medical Center Education department facilitated the Nursing Assistant course. Nurse Illidge made frequent trips to Saba to facilitate her class during the entire 7 month period.
Additional to their training in Saba, the students were required to complete 2 weeks of practical and theoretical training at the St. Maarten Medical Center. The five graduates; Beverly Cox, Cheralyn Cox, Chadiska DeRoche, Alujah Rivers and Lorna Frederick all received their diploma as certified nursing assistants, with Ms. Frederick graduating as Cum Laude.
“The students performed exceptionally well during the course and on their final exam”, said Mr. Pantophlet. “I am very proud of the dedication and passion shown by all the graduates during their studies”.
The SMMC Education department members Antonio Pantophlet, Brunilda Illidge and Vitalia Richardson traveled to Saba for the final examinations and to attend the graduation ceremony. They joined the Nurses, Management and staff of Saba Health Care Foundation in celebrating the joyous occasion with the nursing graduates.
The nursing assistants will have full opportunity to further their studies in the field of nursing with continued efforts. The course facilitators applauded the initiative taken by the management of Saba Health Care Foundation in providing such an opportunity for their staff.
