Education on the Move (EOM), in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, is teaming up to celebrate the teachers of the various schools on the island. November 14th – 18th is the International Education week, whereby the EOM committee along with the Ministry ECYS saw it fit to show appreciation to all the teachers as well as to celebrate International Education Week.
The Minister is scheduled to visit all the schools on the Dutch side of the island during the International Education Week. The teachers will also be given a small token of appreciation, including an inspirational poem, to be hung in the classroom, as well as an EOM mug. Various businesses were contacted in request for donations, which two businesses complied. Le Grand Marche has given a 15% discount for shopping to all teachers. All shopping must be done on November 16th in order to have the discount applied. Cable TV has also donated one month of free cable subscription for 10 teachers, which will be raffled, at the end of the week, to determine the recipients.
Education on the Move is designed to bring awareness to education whereby all educational stakeholders and the community of St. Maarten will get involved. The objective of EOM is to get everyone engaged and actively involved in education.
Another goal of EOM is to promote men in education and recognize the current male educators. All male educators on the Dutch side will receive a special EOM plaque, with a quote with words of encouragement.
