MOHAMMED AND BISHOO NAMED IN ODI SQUAD

St John’s, ANTIGUA – The selection panel of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has named Jason Mohammed to replace Darren Bravo to join the squad for the upcoming one-day-international Tri-Nation series with Sri Lanka and hosts Zimbabwe.

The 30-year old, right-handed batting allrounder, recently captained West Indies A Team in the 3-0 series win over Sri Lanka A in Sri Lanka. He was captain and one of the leading batsmen in the three-match series with scores of 105 not out, 58 and 14.

Bravo has been replaced due to inappropriate and unacceptable behaviour, which is contrary to his contractual obligations to the WICB.

The clause in his agreement clearly states (in clause 4.7.2.2 of your match/tour contract) not to make any statement in or to any form of media (which shall include, without limitation, print media, television, radio, internet or any social networking media), or any other public statement, which would bring yourself, WICB or any official or authorised representative of WICB or the game of cricket into disrepute and your agreement to use all such media in a responsible manner.

Leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo has been named to replace off-spinner Sunil Narine who has withdrawn from the squad for personal reasons.

Bishoo was the leading bowler for West Indies in the recent Test Series against Pakistan in United Arab Emirates – where he took 18 wickets in the three matches. The 31-year-old has so far played 13 ODIs, with 20 wickets (average 23.8; economy rate 4.28).
