“Gangs and St. Maarten’s Youth: What every parent should know.”

Are you concerned that your child may be involved in gang activity? Does your child often wear a particular color or have strange symbols on their books, clothing, and/ or school bags? Do you feel like you have lost parental authority to your child’s friends? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then this free and  informative session is for you!

The Student Support Services Division (SSSD) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Youth & Sports   is organizing an interactive and informative Workshop  entitled “Gangs and St. Maarten’s Youth: What every parent should know.” The general public especially parents of primary and secondary school going children are invited to attend.

Parents, school personnel and other interested persons are encouraged to come out to this workshop which will be held on Wednesday November 2nd, 2016 at the University of St. Martin from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M.

The objective of the workshop is to help parents understand  why children join gangs, how to distinguish if their child is involved in a gang through symbols, initiation methods etc. and provide tips and strategies that attendees can utilize. Mr. Felix Richards, Community Police Officer, will facilitate this workshop.
