C-TEC Technology in education conference taking shape

More technology, more creativity and innovation, more local and international presenters

The C-TEC 2016 conference and expo will take place in the Hillside Christian School (Asha Stevens Campus) and the adjoining NIPA building, from Sunday October 23 to Tuesday October 25. The second installment of this conference will be an even larger fascinating array of local and international educators, experts, tech companies and publishing houses. The aim is to bring together the best practices in fusing technology into education, from Sint Maarten, the Caribbean and the wider world. The C-TEC conference is the brainchild of the well-known Foresee (4C) Foundation, with a proven track record of taking technology in our schools to the next level.

Several technology initiatives are taking place in our schools. Oftentimes however, the focus is on implementing the tools, like computers, networks and internet access. These tools are only necessary conditions however, and offer no guarantee for success. The Foresee Foundation has observed that true integration of technology into the daily reality of teaching is an area that requires more attention. Foresee Foundation is working on bringing more technology to Caribbean classrooms by training educators and highlighting the importance of 21st century education by offering workshops to teachers and sharing good practices with colleagues in the Caribbean and beyond, acknowledging and appreciating initiatives taken by nearly all schools and school boards on the island.

Building on the resounding success of the 2015 conference, C-TEC organizers now provide even more technology, more creativity and innovation, with more local and international presenters.  This technological extravaganza will kick off with an Open House for the General Public on Sunday October 23, 2016 from 1 to 5 pm.  Parents and students in particular and all interested persons in the community in general will have an opportunity to glimpse the technological tools of 21st century education.
