The Union received information that a former employee and former SMCU union leader, and former Telem have won the bit for fiber to the home.
Staff members of Telem stated that one of most important criteria’s to won a bid is that the contractors that enter the bid should have experience in blowing of Fiber. In this case the contractor that won the bid never worked with fiber before but yet won the bit for a major project pertaining to fiber.
To make matters worse we understood that the same Surinamers will be back again to continue the fiber work but now as employees of the company of this ex employee.
Mr. Louisa and Mr. London had inviting the president of the union in a meeting informing him that they want to give the fiber project to a local company but they must work with the surnames and wanted the union’s cooperation.
They were asked why it has to be this group of people that Telem wants to work with and it was left at that. We don’t see why the emphasis that this same group have to be the one to carry out our Fiber Project while we do have competent persons on the island that can do this job.
The company just signed an 8 million Euros loan and the Surinamers are back in the picture again.
In addition the above a member of the supervisory board that works at the airport make known to employees of Telem that all the documents for the Surinamers are now fixed, so now they can officially work in St. Maarten. When he was ask why and what happened to the local guys he replied “the local guys are not qualified”
He also informed the Telem employees that 60% of Telcel will be sold to Digicell, while the union nor the employees of Telem is not aware of this matter we where not informed by the CFO of Telem. The union is going to request a meeting with the new council of minister to get some clarity in these matters. Here we go again instead board members supervise the directors they joint them in the wrong doing. The board director needs to change and Telem need a CEO.
