The Control Unit of the Inspection Department Ministry Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport and Telecommunications (Ministry TEATT), carried out traffic controls during a three day stretch on May 18th, 19th and 22nd, 2015.
A total of 208 vehicles and 59 fines were issued by the Control Unit officers.
The breakdown of the violations were as follows: 47 fines were for driver not wearing a seatbelt; two fines were for drivers not having a driver’s license; two fines for the driver not being able to hand over the driver license when stopped; three fines were issued for not wearing a helmet; one fine issued for a vehicle not insured; three other traffic violations were detected and addressed regarding public transportation.
The Control Unit will continue with its control on traffic and public transportation as part of responsibility under the Ministry.
The Inspection Department TEATT advises all public transportation operators to ensure that they are in possession of a valid driver’s license, valid insurance according to minimum limits established by the Public Transportation Ordinance, a valid permit or in the case of help/assistance driver a valid help/assistant driver permit, and a valid inspection card for the motor vehicle being used to carry out public transportation services.
These controls will continue and the cooperation of the general public is appreciated.
