Between June 1st and 12th final practice exercises of the training for Duty Officer of the fire department, will take place. In the port of Bonaire a fire on a ship was simulated on June 4th . Eleven members of the fire department of Bonaire, Saba, St. Eustatius, Curaçao, Aruba and St. Maarten take part in these exercises. In the last week of June exams are held on Bonaire by IFV. After the completion of their training the participants are officially allowed to perform the function of Duty Officer. A Duty Officer is the person who has leadership on behalf of the fire department in case of a fire or incident. It was the first time since 10-10-10 that firefighters of all these islands did a joint training. The Fire Department of the Caribbean Netherlands was the host during this training, which was provided by instructors from the Institute for Physical Safety (IFV) and instructors from the region.
