Audition for the Library’s Summer Musical

The Philipsburg Jubilee Library in collaboration with the National Institute of the Arts (NIA) will be starting auditions for their summer musical camp entitled, Anansi and the Great Salt Pond on July 2.
Talented, young St. Maartiner, Iris Hakkens, penned the story, Anansi and the Great Salt Pond, which was adapted by Reyes for the musical. The story teaches youngsters to preserve their cultural heritage and to take care of their environment.
Auditions will take place on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at the John Larmonie Center from 2:00pm to 7:00pm.
Parents are required to register their children to audition no later than Saturday, June 21, at 1pm at the library. Please bring a passport sized picture of your child, when registering. Space is limited so parents are required to register their children as early as possible.
“The aim of this summer musical is to give St. Maarten’s talented youngsters between the ages nine to seventeen, a platform to cultivate, as well as showcase their untapped artistic abilities in a meaningful way. Co-Director Clara Reyes and her team at the National Institute of the Arts (NIA) will be training and preparing the students for the musical,” stated Public Relations and Activity Manager Morenika Charles- Arrindell.
