Man seriously ill-treated with a machete

On Sunday May 11th at approximately 01.10 a.m. a police patrol from the Philipsburg district was sent to an address on Low Estate in Belvedere to investigate a case of ill-treatment with a machete. On the scene the investigating officers spoke the female resident of that address who stated that her son with the initials S.A. (24) and her fiancée with the initials A.J.B. (44) have been having problems with each other for some time. Last night the situation got out of hand and became extremely physical whereby her son attacked her fiancée with a machete injuring him quite seriously on his left arm. The victim also suffered other minor injuries to his face. Both parties were on the scene when the investigating officers arrived on the scene. Detectives and Forensic Department were on the scene collecting evidence. The paramedics treated the victim on the scene and then transported him to the Sint Maarten Medical Center for further treatment and where he remains hospitalized. The suspect was arrested on the scene and remains in custody at the Philipsburg Police Department.
