On Saturday the 2014 St. Martin Pony League Youth Baseball competition continued when in the Mustang Division Dutch Quarter Indians faced the Cole Bay Pirates and defeated them by knock out 14 – 4. This was the second game of these two teams and in this occasion in the Dutch Quarter Indians were way too much for the Pirates. The Indians had an easy time taking on the Pirates.
The second game of the weekend was played on Sunday and in what could be called a great baseball game of our youngsters the St. Martin Pony League held its 2014 All Stars Baseball game between players of French and Dutch St. Martin. The game started with French Side taking the lead early in the first inning. The Dutch Side responded with two runs to take a 2 – 1 lead in the early part of the game. French Side went to bat and for the next two innings did not score. Dutch Side scored 3 more runs in the 3 rd and extended their lead to 5 – 1 after three full innings. In the fourth the French Scored one more run and in the fifth they scored four big runs but not enough to take the lead. At the bottom of the fifth the game was 7 – 6 in favor of the Dutch Side. No one scored in the six inning but it was in the seventh that the French Side players scored four big runs to take a 10 – 7 lead. In their last at bat in the bottom of the seventh the Dutch Side only manage to score two more runs but not enough to take the lead. French Side won 10 – 9.
