Minister of Education, Culture, Youth Affairs and Sports (Ministry ECYS) Hon. Patricia Lourens-Philip recently met with FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association) representative to talk about football development.
Sint Maarten is now a member of CONCACAF (Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football), the continental governing body for association football in North America, Central America and the Caribbean. The country will be aiming to become a member of FIFA.
The membership provides financial and technical support for the development of football via workshops and education programs.
The St. Maarten Football Association is the official organization of football in the country and this courtesy call to the Cabinet of the Minister of Sports was via this entity.
FIFA is the sport’s global governing body, an international association football competition contested by men’s national teams.
