President of Parliament Hon. Gracita Arrindell who headed a delegation to Curacao early last week for the Inter-parliamentary Kingdom Summit (IPKO), described the outcome of the summit as successful.
The Inter-parliamentary Kingdom Summit also included parliamentary delegations from the Netherlands, Aruba and Curacao who met in Curacao from January 6-10.
The meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Curacao’s President of Parliament Hon. Marcolino Franco.
The four parliamentary delegations discussed a number of issues that included the following: education; energy matters where attention is paid to geothermal energy opportunities; public health and the organization of a Public Health Conference in the second half of 2014 for the entire Kingdom; youth affairs related to the UNICEF report.
Also discussed was integrity and governance within the Kingdom; racism and intolerance within the Kingdom; and economic opportunities within the Kingdom.
It was agreed that the next Inter-parliamentary Kingdom Summit will take place in the Netherlands in the first half of June 2014.
