Project DigiKidz@St. Maarten Preparing for Launch

21st Century Learning Planned for St. Maarten Schools

For the past 18 months a group of enthusiastic educators and ICT specialists have worked together to prepare a comprehensive educational technology plan – DigiKidz@St. Maarten.

This exciting project is scheduled to be launched in one St. Maarten primary school and the Philipsburg Jubilee Library, and after in a number of other primary schools.

The creator of the DigiKidz project – the Foresee Foundation – is comprised of experienced educators and young St. Maarteners specialized in IT, marketing, communications and business. The DigiKidz project will roll out a comprehensive ICT project for elementary schools, including hardware with laptops/tablets, wired and wireless network, and professional development for staff for those schools that are motivated to teach students innovative 21st century learning skills.

The vision of the DigiKidz team is fully supported by the Windsong International Foundation, which has proposed to provide substantial financial support for the DigiKidz project. The Foundation was formed by Windsong Trust, a U.S. private foundation formed by the late philanthropist Martin Crowley to provide educational assistance to children throughout the world. It is the wish of the Foundation to work closely with the public and private sector in order to guarantee long-term sustainability after the initial capital investments. The DigiKidZ project team is currently meeting prospective partners in the public and private sector for the purpose envisioning and translating the concepts of "Corporate Social Responsibility" and "Building Capital for Sustainable Development" as presented during recently held symposia, organized by the Social Economic Council and the Governor’s office.

The DigiKidz project will officially launch on October 15th at Beau Beau’s Restaurant at Oyster Bay Beach Resort. The following day, October 16th an informational session will be held for School Boards and School Managers of all St. Maarten Primary Schools. Date and venue will be announced in the upcoming week. Prospective business partners and organizations who are enthusiastic about this project can contact the DigiKidz team through its emails Di******@gm***.com and fo***************@gm***.com.
