World Tourism Day TV Special for Friday evening featuring Minister Ted Richardson and other guests

On the occasion of World Tourism Day (WTD) which will be celebrated around the globe on Friday, 27 September, the Department of Communication will be airing a WTD Television Special on St. Maarten Cable TV Channel 115 at 7.00pm.

 

27 September WTD is considered as the most important international observance day of tourism.

The special will feature a WTD Message by the Minister of Tourism Hon. Ted Richardson, Inspector Herbert Libier, Assistant Operations Manager of Seven Seas Water Lester Bryan, President of the St. Maarten Hospitality & Trade Association Emil Lee and President of the Nature Foundation Tadzio Bervoets.

The theme is: "Tourism and Water: Protecting our Common Future."

Each interview highlights the importance of water to our tourism based economy, how its created and inspected and why conservation is essential to having sustainable access to high quality water.

The purpose of World Tourism Day is to foster awareness among the international, national and regional community of the importance of tourism and its cultural, political and economic value.

September 27 is the most widely celebrated global day for tourism, and represents a unique opportunity to raise awareness of tourism’s role in water access and shines a spotlight on the sector’s contribution to a more sustainable water future.
