Debated Topic Current and Pertinent
The Prime Minister of St. Maarten the Honorable Sarah Wescot-Williams attended the Youth Parliament session at the Parliament Building on Monday where young Parliamentarians discussed technology n the classrooms.
The extraordinary session was also attended by the acting Governor the His Excellency Reynold Groeneveldt, the Honorable President of Parliament Drs. Gracita Arrindell and the Minister of Education the Honorable Patricia Lourens-Philips. The Youth Parliamentarians discussed the advancement of technology in the classroom from both the pro and contra perspectives and eventually stressed upon Government to enact the necessary legislation to advance technology, something which has already been enacted.
The Prime Minister commended the Youth Parliamentarians and the organizers of the session for an excellent job well done. "I wish to commend the organizers and mentors of the Youth Parliament and I congratulate the YMPs on their excellent performance. They chose a very current topic and their debate was refreshing. I hope other young males will join the lone male YMP, Mr. Peterson, and I encourage all YMPs to continue on this track. There are a couple of basic lessons one can take away from today’s YP meeting, such as debating is also learning from one another and respect for opposing views and common parliamentary procedures," commented the PM.
