The Sint Maarten Soccer Educational Foundation (SMSEF) and Sint Maarten’s very own women’s soccer team FC Soualiga hosted a successful soccer clinic at the Johan Cruyff Court in Belvedere in the week of August 5th through August 9th 2013.
The SMSEF started this initiative several years ago, especially for the kids, but this year the foundation joined forces with FC Soualiga to stimulate and improve women’s soccer on the island.
The purpose of the clinic was to provide the highest quality learning experience for all participants, emphasis was placed on teaching the fundamental components of soccer and fostering a positive, enjoyable learning environment.
Some forty six children and twelve women enjoyed five days filled with practicing skills, learning new moves and playing friendly games. The quality of the clinic was a reflection of the quality of the staff. An outstanding group of coaches from the United States came to Sint Maarten especially for this event and together, they brought experience from across all different levels of the game.
"Every day I learned something new, in a fun and positive way. This clinic was a fantastic initiative and I’m really looking forward to next year", said one of the clinic participants.
The Sint Maarten Soccer Educational Foundation and FC Soualiga would like to thank everyone who contributed to and participated in this year’s soccer clinic, both organizations look forward to your continued enthusiasm and support for soccer on Sint Maarten!
