Things got better in Trinidad and Tobago on Friday, May 24, 2013. This day symbolized a major milestone for NAGICO Insurances when the company officially launched the brand at the newly renovated head office in Port of Spain, Trinidad. The launch event was the climax of preparations since the acquisition of GTM Insurances in October, 2011. "We are here to stay, we are here to achieve great results." remarked Mr. McSood Amjad, Group CEO. The event signaled the "great results" that both customers and staff can expect from NAGICO.
With the exception of the Tobago branch, all branch locations were closed half day for the special occasion. Specially invited guests, including executives from the Central Bank, Agents, Brokers, the media and staff experienced a warm welcome to the refurbished head office. On entrance, they were treated to a "welcome drink" and the colors of the NAGICO brand – green, yellow and gold – were the theme colors of the decor throughout the building. The National Anthem, sung by NAGICO’s Account
Executive, Ms. Erica Pascall, kicked off the launch promptly at 3:35 pm. Blessings were bestowed on the refurbished building, customers and staff by Ms. Gainder Maharaj, Corporate Services Manager.
Following this dedication, Mr. Christopher Henriques, General Manager, welcomed guests and said "good bye" to GTM Insurances as he formally took the baton to lead NAGICO in Trinidad and Tobago.
Executive Marketing Manager, Mr. Paul Dijkhoffz, commended the Trinidad team for the great job in the transformation of the head office. His presentation of before and after the renovation works testified the company’s vision to become "the most trusted insurance company in T&T."
Group CEO, Mr. Imran McSood Amjad, reiterated his commitment to the new territory as he shared the story of its humble beginnings to its present asset base of approximately TT$ 1 billion. He spoke proudly of the transformation since NAGICO purchased GTM. "I promised the staff that we would change the circumstances under which they operated", he said. On that promise, he committed to the investment of over TT$ 6 million on the renovations and promised that an additional TT$ 3 million will be spent in renovations at the San Fernando branch. Mr. Amjad also said that he is counting on the T&T staff to help achieve annual targets and identified staff training and development as key to making the company more competitive in the mature market of T&T.
A token of appreciation to Mrs. Irene Brizan who at 101 years, is the company’s oldest customer, demonstrated the company’s commitment to customer service. "Insurance is about service and buying trust that if something goes wrong, the company will be there for you." said Mr. McSood. "Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" Ms. Brizan said after receiving her gift of a bouquet of flowers and one year free insurance from Mr. Henriques. The T&T team also took the opportunity to show their appreciation for the renovations and the guidance and support of Mr. McSood with a gift of a brass carving of a cricketer, in recognition of his passion of the sport.
The ribbon and cake cutting in the customer service area ended the formal proceedings, at the same time, signaling the official birth of NAGICO Insurances in T&T. At the end of the program, guests and media toured the refurbished offices and everyone enjoyed the rest of the evening, mingling and dining to make history together – the NAGICO way.
