Minister Jacobs supports intentions of SIMVA starting an Elementary School League

After the just concluded primary school Olympiad organized by the Ministry of Sports and to continue with the trend and the interest showed by the students in the different sports.

The board of the St. Maarten Volleyball Association SIMVA saw the need to start an Elementary School League. SIMVA has for the past four years hosted a Secondary School Tournament which has been very successful to date. We are now hopeful to start a similar tournament for Elementary Schools.

Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sports Hon. Silveria Jacobs supports the intentions of SIMVA to start an Elementary School League.

Saturday March 16th SIMVA started practice sessions for Elementary schools students from ages 8 to 12 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the L. B. Scott Sports Auditorium.

The goal of SIMVA is to start an Elementary School Tournament to be held every 2nd Saturday in the months of April, May, June and July.

SIMVA approached the Elementary schools and some schools have already shown interest in participating

In an effort to assist the schools and encourage interest SIMVA delivered 3 youth volleyballs to each Elementary school.

SIMVA is appealing to their membership to volunteer to assist with these practice sessions. SIMVA would also like the parents and teachers to show interest in our kids by getting them to and from the Auditorium.

For more information please contact SIMVA President Raymond Jacobs telephone 520-1444 or SIMVA Youth coordinator Joyce Baly telephone 580-7922.

SIMVA also runs an open practice session for all ages both gender every Saturday from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.
