Prime Minister at Senior Citizen’s Walk and Gathering on Friday

 

"This a demonstration of love and unity from one generation to another."

The Prime Minister of St. Maarten the Honorable Sarah Wescot-Williams joined with the Deputy Prime Minister the Hon. William Marlin, Minister of Health, Labor and Social Affairs the Hon. Cornelius De Weever and President of Parliament the Hon. Rodolphe Samuel in accompanying the elderly at the Home Away From Home walk though front street early Friday morning. The walk, which featured some fifty senior citizens, members of the community, students from the St. Maarten Vocational and Oranje Schools and students from the Voice of Our Children Foundation was geared towards encouraging senior citizens to stay active in the St. Maarten community. The parade down Front Street was accompanied by a drum band and police escort.

 

 

"I think this is a demonstration of unity and willpower and I would like to say kudos to all of you to be part of this very important event. I want to say congratulations to all of the schools who have helped out this morning and whose students have came out to greet us along the way and of course a special congratulations to the St. Maarten vocational school and to the Voice of Our Children for helping out with this event. This is a demonstration of love from one generation to another and love and commitment to our country. What a feeling of pride it is to walk through our Front Street where representatives of government have the opportunity to the contribution you have made to the country of St. Maarten. Together we can continue to build our home Sweet St. Maarten Land," commented the Prime Minister at the gathering at the Government Administration Building after the walk, where participants were given refreshments by various civil servants.
