The Philipsburg Jubilee Library (PJL) honors staffer, Irmin Hughes-Richards for her 35 years of dedicated service to the people of St. Maarten.
"Earnest dedication, selfless devotion and utter commitment to her work are only a few words that describe Irmin’s work ethic here at the library," Monique Alberts, PJL Director, explained.
Hughes-Richards, a daughter of the St. Maarten soil, started her long career at the library in 1978 as an energetic, high school graduate, ready to make a difference. With this goal in mind the young Hughes-Richards applied for a job at the library and she was immediately hired as an Administrative Clerk. During that time Hughes-Richards was expected to run to Holland House to make photocopies because the library was not yet in possession of a copier. From that humble beginning she worked her way up to a member of the library’s Management Team.
In the past 35 years Hughes-Richards fulfilled many roles among which were: Circulation and Book Mobile Clerk, Circulation Supervisor, and Assistant Librarian. Currently, Hughes-Richards serves, primarily, as the Human Resource Officer, Head of the Information Desk and member of the Management Team.
"The sheer scope of Irmin’s work experience here at the library is testament to her inherent drive to succeed," declared Alberts.
The Philipsburg Jubilee Library Board, Management and Staff congratulate Hughes-Richards on this milestone in her career.
In recognition of Hughes-Richards unwavering service to the library, a staff luncheon will be held in her honor on Wednesday afternoon.
