M.P.C. Stars started shining early in the morning versus C.I.A. in the 13 and Under category. In the first half M.P.C. Stars took a 4 – 1 lead. C.I.A. added one more goal in the second half but it was not enough. M.P.C. Stars won the game by 6 – 2. Top scorer for M.P.C. Stars was Leonardo Knol with 4 goals. Kael Richards was a useful player with 1 goal and 3 assists. The goals for C.I.A. were made by Malcom Martes and Vivik Sabrani.
In the second 13 and Under confrontation of the day Sr. Regina faced St. Dominic High School. St. Dominic High School controlled the game in the first half with a hat trick by Himanshu Kotai and a goal by Kishon Coipel enjoying half time with a 4 – 0 lead. Sr. Regina regrouped in the second half and got on the scoreboard with a goal by Nathan Charlie after an assist by Lens Charles. Even though Sr. Regina kept St. Dominic from scoring more goals in the second half, they were unable to close the gap. St. Dominic High School took home the win with the final result 1 – 4.
In the first 11 and Under match up Dr. M.L. King jr school played its first game this tournament versus Learning Unlimited. The kids were clearly fired up to play and it showed in the score. At half time Dr. M.L. King jr was leading by 3 – 0 and at the end of the game the result was 7 – 0 for Dr. M.L. King jr. Top scorer for Dr. M.L. King jr was Manukiell Edwards with 3 goals and 1 assist. Lee Hypolite and Manuel Ramirez were both useful players with 1 goal each and 2 assists.
In the second 11 and Under game Charles Leopold Bell took the field versus Christian Hillside. Christian Hillside overpowered Charles Leopold Bell in the first half with 9 goals. Charles Leopold Bell did not give up and succeeded in getting rid of the nil. Trace Fisher scored 2 goals for his team in the second half. Christian Hillside slowed down a bit but still managed to ad 4 more goals to its total. The final result was Charles Leopold Bell 2 – 13 Christian Hillside. Top scorers for Christian Hillside were Andy Pascal with 1 goal in the first half and a hat trick in the second half plus an assist, and Jahiem Salomon, John Anthony Carrion and Samson Williams with 3 goals each.
In the first 9 and Under game of the day Dr. M.L. King jr had to bow to Sr. Regina even if it was by a small margin. In the close game that was exciting until the final whistle Sr. Regina established a 1 – 2 lead in the first half which the team did not relinquish. The final result was Dr. M.L. King jr 1 – 2 Sr. Regina. The goals for Sr. Regina were scored by Christian Foeken and Amaru Bute. The lone goal for Dr. M.L. King jr was by D’Angelo Thompson.
In the second 9 and Under match up Leonald Conner took the field versus Sr. Magda Athletics. This was an exciting game with good soccer by both teams. Sr. Magda Athletics had the edge today taking a 2 – 4 lead in the first half after a hat trick by Paul Speetjens. Even though Leonald Conner seemed to close the gap in the second half the Sr. Magda players seemed to know when to step it up. The final result was Leonald Conner 4 – 7 Sr. Magda Athletics. Top scorers for Sr. Magda Athletics were Paul Speetjens with 4 goals and 1 assist and Robert Halman with 3 goals and 2 assists. All the goals for Leonald Conner were scored by Kyron Mussen.
The third 9 and Under game was between Combine and Sr. Magda Energetics. Sr. Magda Energetics was missing some key players which is asking for trouble versus an experienced team like Combine. Without their strikers they were unable to cross the middle line and no matter how well their goal keeper Kathlyn Vlaun was defending her goal it was clear goals would be scored by Combine. The question was how many? Combine managed to score 10 goals each half time for a final result of Combine 20 – 0 Sr. Magda Energetics. Top scorers for Combine were Ties Kerssies with 4 goals and 5 assists, Noah Ledee with 4 goals and 1 assist and Tijs Vries with 3 goals and 5 assists.
In the third 11 and Under confrontation of the day between Sr. Magda FC and Leonald Conner the teams were evenly matched in the first half even though Leonald Conner enjoyed a 1 – 2 lead. The game could still go either way. Sr. Magda FC had many opportunities during the first half but they did not find the net more than once. Leonald Conner however quickly changed this picture in the second half by scoring 3 more goals establishing a nice lead. Sr. Magda FC tried hard to come back but only scored once more. The final result was Sr. Magda FC 2 – 5 Leonald Conner. Top scorers for Leonald Conner were Durvane Solomon and Alex Jerome with 2 goals each. Top scorer for Sr. Magda FC was Jaedyn Williams with 2 goals.
In the final game of the day in the 9 and Under category Charles Leopold Bell did not have enough players to play. Learning Unlimited therefore took home an easy win.
Next weekend there are no games because of the school vacation. The SMSEF interscholastic soccer tournament 2013 will continue on February 23.
