The Governor of Sint Maarten is pleased to announce that Mr. André Hoeneveld has been appointed as Director of the Cabinet of the Governor of St. Maarten per October 1, 2012. Mr. Hoeneveld succeeds Rob Bats who left on May 1, 2012 to become mayor of Haaren in the Netherlands.
Mr. Hoeneveld (1959) has worked at the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations since 1988. Since his appointment, he worked for many years as a lawyer at the Directorate for Constitutional Affairs and Legislation and several years as a (senior) staff in various other departments of the Ministry.
During his tenure at the Ministry, he has taken up assignments in the Netherlands Antilles:
· 1992 to 1997 Deputy Director of the Cabinet of the Governor of the Netherlands Antilles
where in 1996 he also functioned as Acting Director for a period
· 2004 to 2005 senior government lawyer in the Office of the Lt. Governor of St. Maarten
· 2006 to 2010 legal adviser to the Cabinet of the Governor of the Netherlands Antilles
· 2010 to 2011 legal adviser to the Cabinet of the Governor of Curaçao
Mr. Hoeneveld started his career in 1985 as a policy worker in the Department Municipal Tax in Rotterdam. He studied Dutch law and graduated in private and international law.
