Encourages community to also take part in the free Zumba classes
The Prime Minister of St. Maarten the Honorable Sarah Wescot-Williams will continue the U 2 Can Move fitness campaign which she initiated.
Two Fridays ago some two hundred and fifty civil servants joined in the Soualiga Walk event and the fitness campaign will continue with Zumba classes which will be held starting this Friday the 14th of September in front of the Government Administration Center in Philipsburg at five fifteen in the afternoon. The PM commented that although the program is geared towards Civil Servants she actually encourages the wider community to come out and take part; "The initial idea was to encourage civil servants to take part in these fitness programs but I would also like to encourage the wider community to come out and take part," commented the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister said previously that the events are a part of a larger fitness campaign where she encourages Civil Servants and the community in general to take their health and fitness seriously. "There is much we can do for ourselves as individuals and as a country as far as good health is concerned. Information, diet and exercise are the basic ABC’s to good health and are valuable in any situation. I want to encourage our health institutions, practitioners and NGO’s in this field to focus on educating our community on aspects of health and I call on all, especially our women, to take responsibility for their health, regular check-ups, and to heed warning signs such as aches and pains," the Prime Minister said.
