APS Distributing Pension Specifications Through Personnel Departments

Recipients invited to inform APS of discrepancies

As previously indicated APS, the general pension fund administrator, has enlisted the personnel departments of the various employers of APS participants in distributing the final specification from APNA.

This specification provides amongst others an overview of the accrued pension through October 9, 2010. The specifications were distributed for informative purposes to participants, since APS feels it is important to provide participants with data on how they were registered at APNA as per the abovementioned date.

APS had asked participants to inform it if they noticed discrepancies with their pension specifications, so that the general pension fund could work with them, in order to resolve their concerns.

There are four important points to look at as these influence the accrued pension directly: the participant’s date of birth, the registration date in the fund ("datum toetreding"), whether the participant "bought back" additional years ("inkoop") and the salary based on which the accrued pension is calculated.

APS has already been getting some feedback and questions from participants.

It is important for persons to realize that this specification is as per October 9, 2010. If a civil servant started working in 2011, they would not receive one of these specifications, at this time. Participants should also realize that the specification mentions the salary that was known to APNA as per October 9, 2010. A participant may have since had a salary change which would not be reflected in the specification being distributed.

APS further noticed that it did not receive specifications for many participants who were employed at a federal level, such as those employed by police, immigration and coast guard organizations. These participants are asked not to be concerned that they do not have a pension. It is more likely that these persons have been incorrectly allocated to either Algemeen Pensioenfonds Curaçao (APC) or Pensioenfonds Caribisch Nederland (PCN).

At present, APS is nearing completion of the process to ensure that all of the persons that should be registered with APS, are indeed registered with the general pension fund administrator. In the meantime, it is important for persons who were expecting to receive a specification but did not receive such, to contact APS, enabling it to expedite the updating of its data.

To facilitate the process, persons who have discovered discrepancies with their specifications need to submit documentation substantiating the required change. APS would not be able to properly look into cases if these documents are not forthcoming.

Persons who have not received a pension specification, but know their APNA registration number ("stamnummer) can present it along with their personal details, to APS.
