Holds Meeting with Kingdom Minister of Justice Hans Hillen on Monday
The Prime Minister of St. Maarten the Honorable Sarah Wescot-Williams Sarah Wescot-Williams joined with the Voluntary Corps of St. Maarten and the Royal Dutch Marines in firearms training on Saturday.
The training, held at the firing range in Indigo Bay, was part of the HUREX Exercises carried out by the Marine Contingent which was on St. Maarten last week. The Prime Minister, accompanied by Minister Jacobs and Minister De Weever practiced their shooting skills at the firing range under the instruction of members of the Voluntary Corp of St Maarten.
The Prime Minister also met with Kingdom Minister of Defense Hans Hillen on Monday where matters related to the defense of the country were discussed, including the establishment of a Royal Marines Base on St. Maarten. Last week the Prime Minister met with Lieutenant Edwin Hofma, the Commanding Officer of the Marine Barracks Savaneta located in Aruba and Chairman of the Workgroup for the establishment of the Marine Base on the island, to get a briefing regarding the process of establishing the Marine Barracks.
