On Saturday March 31st St. Maarten’s Area 6 Toastmasters came together for its Registration Day where all Toastmasters attending the District 81 Toastmasters 2012 Conference "Beyond Communicating … Connect & Lead" on May 18th to May 21st got the opportunity to sign up.
Area 6 consists of 5 Clubs of which 60 Toastmasters made the commitment to attend this year’s conference. "Our goal was to register 80 local TMs, thus far we have registered 60, not bad. We are aware of others that have indicated their willingness to assist on a sub-committee but have not registered as yet, hopefully these persons will be registering soon," said Chairlady of the Conference Planning Committee, DTM Valerie Brazier. Also in attendance was District 81 Lt Governor of Education & Training DTM Rolande Tobias who commented, "We are working on making this conference an historical one so let’s keep up the great momentum and get the remaining local and District delegates to register early so we can plan accordingly."
Great workshop sessions featuring top presenters in the Caribbean, will cover topics such as Conflict Resolution, Preparing for a Successful Meeting and the 6 C’s of effective writing, are designed to enhance any attendee’s communication and leadership skills. Another main feature of the conference will take place when our local and visiting Toastmasters will display their Communication Skills with the scheduled Table Topics (impromptu) and International (prepared) Speech Contests on Saturday May 19th 2012 at 2:30 pm.
Registration for the Conference is still open to all Toastmasters and the general public, interested persons can visit the District 81 website www.caribbeantoastmasters.com to obtain more information on how to register and the benefits of attending the District 81 Conference 2012.
