St John’s, Antigua – The Regional 4 Day 5th round game between Leeward Islands and Windward Islands has been moved from the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Grounds in Antigua.
The SVRCG had been previously scheduled to host English county team Kent for their pre-season training. The initiative is part of the Government of Antigua and Barbuda’s Ministry of Tourism sports tourism drive.
The WICB fully supports this important sports tourism initiative by the government of Antigua and Barbuda.
As the fixture is a day/night match (utilizing the pink ball) it could not be played at any other venue in the Leeward Islands (the only other international venue in the Leeward Islands is St Kitts’ Warner Park which does not have lights).
The Leewards v Windwards match will now be played under lights at the Beausejour Cricket Ground in St Lucia.
