St. Maarten Scrabble & Chess Club is back in gear as of this Saturday, February 11, at the same time 12:00 pm-3:00 pm, but at a new location. Meetings will now be held next to Giant Recording Studio in South Reward, about two minutes’ drive from Milton Peters Academy, up the hill past the Vocational School. A detailed map giving directions to the location can be found in the Location tab at www.giantrecordingstudio.com .
To cover cost, there will be a US $40 registration fee per person for the year. For families with two children, it will be $30 for each child. Sandwiches and snacks will be provided. An initiative of Play to Learn Foundation, the club aims to improve children’s vocabulary and math skills in an entertaining and social setting. There will be two Scrabble & Chess Showdown competitions during the year, with prizes awarded to winners of each game in two age categories. Membership is open to children ages six to 17. Space is limited, so it is advised to register soon.
