Contractor blamed for loss of Point Blanche Cable TV services

TelEm Group workers are busy restoring CableTV and CableNet services in the Point Blanche area Wednesday, after a contractor damaged a Cable TV trunk cable while putting up a digital signpost.

The damage was reported Tuesday and TelEm Group technicians in the Outside Plant Department (OSP) were called in to assess the damage, make a report and begin repairs right away
According to TelEm Group Chief Technical Officer (CTO) Mr. Eldert Louisa, the damaged to the truck cable was quite severe and has affected all customers in the Point Blanche area making use of Cable TV and CableNet Internet service.

“From the moment the damage was reported, we began to put repair protocols in place so that our customers in the area can have services restored as soon as possible,” said Mr. Louisa.

He said the damage was beyond TelEm Group’s control, however technicians and engineers managed to repair the trunk cable before the end of the business day.

TelEm Group meantime advise customer in the Point Blanche area to contact the Helpdesk if their Cable TV and CableNet services are still not restored.
