Supervisory Board Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten

Willemstad / Philipsburg – The Supervisory Board of the Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten (the “Supervisory Board”) announced an independent investigation on 19 April, considering the seriousness of the issue, regarding the facts and circumstances in which, among other things, confidential information which the Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten (the “CBCS”) would have been shared with third parties. On the basis of these facts and circumstances, the Supervisory Board can assess the extent to which it has acted within the legal frameworks of the Bank Statute and the Country of Curaçao. For the investigation of the facts, the methodology was used whereby, in addition to studying underlying documentation, interviews were held with the members of the Executive Board and various employees of the Bank. The investigation is now in the final phase and the Supervisory Board has received provisional final reports. As part of the hearing, last Monday, the Supervisory Board gave the members of the Executive Board the opportunity to provide input and / or comments before the Supervisory Board will determine its position in this regard.
