On Wednesday January 30th , at approximately 03.00 p.m. several police patrols, Detectives, Forensic Department and paramedics were sent to an apartment building located on Lily road in Saunders to investigate a shooting which had taken place shortly before. On the scene the investigating officers encountered the male victim who was lying on the floor in front of one of the apartments and was bleeding from a gunshot wound to his back. Due to his condition the victim at the time could not give a statement to what had taken place and was treated on the scene by paramedics and then taken to the Sint Maarten Medical Center for further treatment. The area was immediately cordoned off by the investigating officers allowing the Forensic Department to collect evidence and detectives to question potential witnesses. It are presently investigating the situation to find out what exactly happened and who is responsible for this shooting.
