President and Vice-President of Parliament Meet with AUC.

President of Parliament Hon. Sarah A. Wescot-Williams and Vice President of Parliament Hon. Theodore Heyliger welcomed American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine (AUC) officials recently at the House of Parliament. AUC had the honor of introducing its newest members to the AUC team, Kathy Boden Holland, Group President, Medical and Healthcare Education and Eric Mitchell, Director of Government Relations for U.S and Caribbean Affairs.

Executive Dean, Heidi Chumley took the opportunity to also share the University’s plans and projects going forward. “It was pleasing to hear the progress this educational institution has made since being affected by hurricane Irma last September. Things are returning to normal quite rapidly, giving a sense of hope for the future. While Irma’s passing brought some major challenges for the institution and the island as a whole, new opportunities are also on the horizon. The briefing by the AUC team exuded a sense of “we are here to stay”. I believe the areas of medicine and education are 2 of the areas, St. Maarten should seize to market itself to the outside world and I look forward to AUC playing a major role in this regard”, the President of Parliament concluded.
