RAIN FORCES ABANDONMENT OF WINDIES WOMEN’S 4TH T20 INTERNATIONAL.

NEW PLYMOUTH, New Zealand- Continuous rainfall over a 24-hour period has forced Match Officials to call off the 4th T20 International on Thursday, March 22, between the WINDIES Women and New Zealand White Ferns, scheduled for Pukekura Park in New Plymouth.

An early morning inspection of the venue was done by Match Officials. Then at 1:00pm local time, the Captains and Coaches of both teams accompanied the Match Officials to the venue for a second inspection. It was then decided to call off the match as the rain was forecasted to continue falling thereby leaving no time to dry the playing surface before the stipulated cut-off time of 4:30pm local time.

WINDIES Women’s Captain Stafanie Taylor commented after, “It’s a bit disappointing having the match abandoned today because we felt like it would’ve been another close game and we were looking forward to getting that first win. But we’ll now switch our focus to the last match in Hamilton on Sunday and on finishing the tour on a winning note.”

The White Ferns hold a 3-0 lead in the 5-match T20 International series.
