Chase hits maiden hundred in rain-marred win over Hants; No play between Marooners, Red Force
BRIDGETOWN, Barbados – WINDIES batsman Roston Chase hit a maiden Super50 hundred to help Barbados Pride confirm their booking for the semi-finals with another convincing win, but there was no play in the other Group “A” contest in the Super50 Cup on Tuesday here.

Chase made 105 to pave the way for a Pride 17-run victory under the Duckworth/Lewis/Stern Method over English county side Hampshire at the Windward Cricket Ground.
And, not a ball was bowled in the night-capper between Combined Campuses & Colleges Marooners and Trinidad & Tobago Red Force at Kensington Oval, due to rain.
Pride 253-6 (49.2 overs) beat Hampshire 107-5 (20.3 overs) by 17 runs (D/L/S Method) in Lucas Street
Chase struck seven fours and two sixes from 120 balls to grab the headlines with a knock that underpinned the Pride’s batting effort.
He anchored a couple of handy partnerships to lift the innings out of early trouble at 17 for two after five overs.
He partnered with WINDIES teammate Kraigg Brathwaite in a 95-run, third-wicket stand, before adding a further 117 for the fourth wicket with former WINDIES Under-19 World Cup winner Shamar Springer that put the Pride on top.
Springer made 49 and Brathwaite 42, as former WINDIES speedster Fidel Edwards snared 4-35 from 9.1 overs before rain brought a premature close to the innings with four balls remaining.
Set a revised target of 198 off 31 overs, Hampshire were thwarted by the rain which came to bring an early close to the chase with the visitors short of the D/L/S par score of 124.
Opener Joe Weatherley was leading a Hants revival with an unbeaten 54 after the remainder of the batting struggled.
WINDIES off-spinner Ashley Nurse was the pick of the bowlers with 3-37 from 6.3 overs.
Marooners vs Red Force, no play due to rain, no-result in Bridgetown
A wet outfield caused by persistent afternoon showers forced the abandonment of the match.
The day/night contest was scheduled to get started at 2 pm local time, but rain swept across the island just after midday, ensuring that they players never took the field.
Umpires Johnathan Blades and Patrick Gustard eventually called time on the game around 6:30 pm local time following several inspections of the conditions.
