Just back from the Tour of New Zealand, Chase survived two chances to gather 114 and lead a rescue operation for the Pride, after they were put in to bat.
The WINDIES batsman struck 11 fours and two sixes from 225 balls in a shade over 5 ¼ hours, sharing important stands with club-mate Justin Greaves and newcomer Tevyn Walcott that pulled the Pride around from a treacherous 31 for five.
Greaves scored 60 in sharing 131 for the sixth wicket with Chase, and Walcott made 49, putting on a further 97 for the seventh wicket with the WINDIES star.
The 25-year-old Chase reached his third domestic first-class hundred from 188 balls, when he guided a delivery from Barbados-born all-rounder Kyle Mayers to third man for his 10th four.
He however, was dismissed in the closing stages of the day to left-arm spinner Larry Edward, whose 3-71 from 20 overs made him the Volcanoes’ most successful bowler.

Paul snared 3-15 from 8.2 overs and Reifer, also just back from New Zealand, grabbed 3-21 from nine overs to undermine the Socrpions’ batting, after they too, were sent in to bat.
Left-arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul, the most successful bowler this season, extended his healthy form with 2-25 from 10 overs.
Scorpions folded meekly, with WINDIES batsman Jermaine Blackwood, also just back from New Zealand, and wicketkeeper Aldaine Thomas getting the joint top score of 24.
They were two of four batsmen in double figures, but only they passed 20.
Jaguars suffered an early setback to their reply, when newcomer Akshaya Persaud fell for a duck in the second over, but fellow opener Chanderpaul Hemraj counter-attacked with 47 off 53 balls to repair the damage.
Hemraj put on 53 for the second wicket with captain Leon Johnson before they fell in the space of nine balls in successive overs, as Scorpions hit back late.
Red Force (222) vs Hurricanes 36-3 in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad
Louis collected 4-45 from 12.4 overs and fellow seamer Berridge took 4-72 from 17 overs, as several Red Force batsmen got starts, but failed to carry on, after their side chose to bat.
Lower-order batsman Tion Webster led the way with 38, former WINDIES Under-19 left-handed opener Jeremy Solozano supported with 37, Khary Pierre added 29 and their captain Denesh Ramdin, the former WINDIES Test captain, made 26.
Hurricanes however, were tottering before stumps were drawn with WINDIES left-handed opener Kieran Powell, also just back from New Zealand, among those already dismissed, counting three fours in 15.
