Sr. Ms. Pelikaan places mooring buoys for STENAPA

Sr. Ms. Pelikaan put 6 new mooring buoys underwater around the island St. Eustatius. The buoys are used for the mooring of vessels for maritime ecological research. The buoys are also used by the diving schools that generate a source of income for the island. The ships weigh 5 tons each and offer a good mooring opportunity for various vessels.

The buoys were placed in close cooperation with STENAPA (St. Eustatius National Parks). This organization is responsible for the management of the national parks on St. Eustatius including the underwater parks.

Besides soldiers on Aruba and Curacao, the Commander of the Navy in the Caribbean also stationed soldiers on Sint Maarten. The Pelican is currently sailing at the Windward Islands to support this rotating marine detachment in their training and exercises. On Friday November 17 the support ship with transport capacity will be back on Curacao.
