Department of Economy, Transportation & Telecommunication (ETT)

The Ministry of TEATT, via the Department of Economy, Transport and Telecommunication has secured office equipment in the value of approximately Nafl 31,000. Provision of this equipment was made possible through collaboration with ETT, the COSME Programme, which is the final programme under the 10th European Development Fund (EDF) programme for the Caribbean Overseas Countries and Territories (OCTs) and General Business & Technical Services Ltd, St. Lucia as the supplier.

This equipment will be used within the St. Maarten Business Development Center (SBDC), which will be established very soon. The main purpose of the SBDC will be the provision of all services that will enable the development and growth of businesses in our local economy, whether new or existing. The successful implementation of the SBDC with its effective business stratagem and best practices to the business community will bring about the creation of new job opportunities; increased revenue; the strengthening and diversification of the country’s economy, as well as the stability and further growth of the island’s economic sectors.  The SBDC is part of an overall plan outline in the Ministry’s 20-year Economic Development Plan, which identified the development and empowerment of small and medium enterprises.
