Leonald Conner School Critical Emergency Repairs to commence

On Monday January 30th, 2017, The Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport Affairs, Honorable Silveria Jacobs, together with the managing director of HEMCO NV, Mr. Henry Frederick & NV GEBE Mr. Kenrick J. Chittick, signed agreements to commence the emergency repairs at the Leonald Conner School. The repairs are scheduled to take 4 weeks until completion.

The assignment of the works were sealed with the signatures of Min. Jacobs and Mr. Frederick, and witnessed by Head of Division Public Education, Mrs. Glenderlin Davis-Holiday, Head of the New Works Department, Mr. Kurt Ruan and Sr. Policy Advisor to the Minister, Mr. Sandro Garcia.  Mr. Frederick of Hemco N.V. had won the bid to conduct the much needed critical upgrade and installations at the Leonald Conner School.

Later, Minister Jacobs met with NV GEBE CEO Mr. Kenrick J. Chittick, to finalize the arrangements pertaining to the financial agreement to facilitate the repairs. GEBE had approved a donation to the Leonald Conner School in fulfilling their tasks as ‘Good Corporate Citizens’ to cover the amount needed to carry out the repairs. Minister Jacobs is very thankful on behalf of the students, teachers , management and parents that this gesture has been honored by the GEBE management, approved by the Supervisory Board and the shareholder, represented by the Council of Ministers and hereby extends sincere gratitude to the Management and Staff for their cooperation in making this possible.

Minister also takes this opportunity to thank colleague Ministers and the Secretariat of the Council of Ministers for their support in this endeavor in the interest of the continuity of education on St. Maarten.

In closing, Minister Jacobs would like to thank the parents, students, management and staff of the Leonald Conner School for their support and cooperation and request that the support and cooperation continue, as the end is now in sight.
