Several arrests made, possible murder weapon confiscated in prison shooting probe

The victim in the fatal shooting that took place at the Pointe Blanche Prison on Wednesday August 31, 2016 at approximately 9:00am has been identified as A.O.W.J. (38). He was found in his cell with several gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene by the medical examiner as a result of the gunshot wounds he sustained.
After receiving notification that a shooting had taken place at the prison, the St. Maarten Police  KPSM Emergency Dispatch sent several police patrols, paramedics, detectives and Forensic Department to the scene the initiate a criminal investigation. As part of this investigation a search took place by members of KPSM and led by the Prosecutor’s Office.
During this search several illegal goods, including the possible murder weapon were confiscated. Several arrests were made. The body of the victim was confiscated for autopsy.
The investigation is in full swing.
