MAC Literacy Evening

– On Wednesday, March 30th, Honorable Minister Silveria Jacobs attended a literacy evening hosted by Group Four and Three teachers of the Methodist Agogic Center at the University of St. Martin.

As reading has been highlighted in a variety of ways during this academic year at the MAC school, the goal of the literacy evening was to inspire more students to read more.

Readers at the literacy evening included Minister Jacobs, Clara Reyes of the National Institute of Art, teachers from the MAC school and others.

Reading teaches children about the world around them. Through reading, they learn about people, places and events outside their own experience. They are exposed to ways of life, ideas and beliefs about the world which may be different from those which surround them.

These core values, shared by the MAC school and it’s invited readers were evident in the interactive engagement during the storytelling.
