National CROSS COUNTRY Championship.

The St. Maarten Amateur Athletic Association hosted its first sport event for the year 2016. This event was the annual Cross Country Championship. It was held at the Emilio Wilson Park.

We had a participation of twenty athletes which hailed from the two clubs. Namely the Dynamics Track Club & the Lab Sports Academy.

Invitation went out to the following clubs French and dutch side of the Island.

1. Dynamics Track Club.
2. Avenir Sportif Track Club.
3. Speedy Plus Track Club.
4. Lab Sports Academy.

Both frenchsi side clubs could not make it due to the athletes were on vacation. The National CROSS COUNTRY Championship was a great success. We had a total of 20 participants. This event was held at the EMILIO WILSON PARK. The event was divided in Five Categories.

1. Under 10 Boys & Girls. Distance of 1KM.
2. 11 – 12     ,,           ,,         ,,       ,,         1 KM.
3. 13 – 14     ,,           ,,         ,,       ,,         2 KM.
4. 15 – 16 – 17        ,,       ,,        ,,         3 KM.

This CROSS COUNTRY Championship was also seen as the SECOND Test Period challenge for athletes vying to qualify for the Carifta games in 2016 in Grenada.

This Years Carifta Games will take place in GRENADA form 24^th of MARCH to the 28^th of MARCH 2016.

 

At this moment we have Selected SHAKEBA PINK who will be defending het Silver Medal of 2015. All other athletes will be taking part in FEBRUARY trying to make the Standards for qualifying.
