Minister of Sports Jacobs recently welcomed U19 Basketball Team upon Arrival at SXM Airport

The Honorable Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sports Affairs Silveria Jacobs, recently welcomed home seven of the 12 players of the U19 Basketball Team along with their coach Khalil Revan, at the Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM Airport).

 

U19 placed 2nd in a tournament which featured eight Leeward Islands.

 

Minister Jacobs stated that Sint Maarten is very proud of these young men who defeated a very strong Antigua team to get to the finals.

 

Injuries plagued the team during part of the game while the Sint Maarten team fought hard, they lost in the finals to the British Virgin Islands.

 

“The Sint Maarten team trained hard, played well and made Sint Maarten proud and we gladly highlight the 2nd place win for our boys.

 

“Much success to them as they continue to grow and may this experience make them even hungrier to train harder and get to the next level.

  Congratulations Team Sint Maarten,” Minister of Sports Hon. Silveria Jacobs concluded.

 

Also present at the airport was Sint Maarten Basketball Federation President Keith Hanson and the proud parents of the basketball players.
