Merry Christmas from the Christian Party

During this time of year we can easily get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season. But let us take a little time out to reflect on the reason for the season and also to remember those who are not part of the hustle and bustle because they are sick, unemployed or not well off.

The reason for the season is that God loved us so much that He sent His only son, Jesus Christ, to this earth to seek and save mankind from sin and hell. In order to accomplish this Jesus died a cruel death on the cross. Christmas is therefore not about the glitter and glamor, the shopping and spreeing, the mood and the food. Christmas is really about God’s unconditional love towards you and me. As He demonstrated His love towards every human being we too should also reach out in kindness to everyone in our community no matter their color, creed or sexual orientation. Christmas is also about giving and sharing. Just as God gave his only beloved son to us so we also in this season should give to our fellowmen. We can give our time by volunteering. We can give our talent by caroling, encouraging and being kind to those in need. We can also buy a gift to express our love and concern to some in need. Let us make a difference in the life of someone this Christmas.

Jesus Christ also came to serve others and to make a difference in their lives. The Bible tells us that “even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve.” This is also what the Sint Maarten Christian Party is all about. We believe strongly in the principle of service. Service to others and service to our country. Our party exists to serve you the people to help you improve the quality of your life and the quality of life of every inhabitant of Sint Maarten.

On behalf of the Board, the SMCP Team, and the members and supporters of the Sint Maarten Christian Party, I wish you a blessed Christmas and a God filled 2016. May your days be merry and bright not only during the Christmas season but also throughout the New Year!
