Prime Minister Marcel Gumbs expressed over the weekend his heartfelt condolences on behalf of the people and Government of Sint Maarten to the Republic of France, its people and President His Excellency Francois Hollande, in connection with the attacks on Friday night in Paris.
“Our prayers and thoughts are with the families of the victims and their next of kin. At the same time, we express our solidarity with the people of St. Martin, the Prefet, the Collectivite Executive and Territorial Councils during this difficult time as continental France comes to grip with the tragedy.
“The attacks in Paris has left the world in shock and sadness. We pray for a speedy recovery of all the injured and continue to pray for the families who are grieving at this moment after losing their love ones,” Prime Minister Marcel Gumbs said over the weekend.
The Council of Ministers and staff of the seven ministerial Cabinets of the Government of Sint Maarten will be attending a moment of silence tribute at the Memorial Monument of the Collectivite of Saint Martin at 12.00pm on Monday, November 16th upon the invitation of President Aline Hanson and Prefete Laubies.
Flags were lowered to half-mast in solidarity with the French Republic on Saturday at all Government buildings and at the border. Flags will remain at half-mast until Tuesday.
France is currently observing three days of national mourning which commenced on Sunday, November 15 until Tuesday, November 17.
