Minister Plenipotentiary Fleming-Artsen addresses Women in Leadership at Event for Young Professionals

Minister Plenipotentiary Josianne Fleming-Artsen, recently addressed the issue of Women in Leadership at an event organized by the Soualiga Foundation in the Netherlands.

The foundation organized an event that brought together young professional women and students.  The Minister Plenipotentiary was one of the invited speakers.

In her address to the audience, Minister Plenipotentiary Fleming-Artsen focused on women from the former Netherlands Antilles, Sint Maarten, the Caribbean, the United States of America and Europe.

“The women that I spoke about have contributed to the development of their countries, communities and organizations.  My theme was, ‘Women of Stature, in and out of the Political Arena.’  It was met with great enthusiasm and proved to be uplifting and inspirational to many.

“Drawing on my own experiences in different capacities and along with my current role as Minister Plenipotentiary, I was able to illustrate the fundamental requirements needed to become and to maintain a leadership role,” Minister Plenipotentiary Josianne Fleming-Artsen pointed out.

“The next speaker was a young professional, Schmidt, a starting entrepreneur owning her own business and branching out into other fields of interest. This young lady came to the Netherlands in 2002 after completing Milton Peters College, to study midwifery, and is now the proud owner of three private clinics in The Hague area.

 

“The third speaker was, Nathalie Lyndsey, a young and dynamic Law student in her final year who addressed the audience as the closing speaker. She spoke about her dreams and aspirations to one day become a leader in her own field of expertise.

 

“Here she too drew references to what I expounded on in my presentation, which entailed the principles of good leadership, some of the areas touched on being, believing in one’s self, setting achievable goals, endurance, perseverance, showing compassion and having good morals and integrity.

 

“The Soualiga Foundation must be complimented for their commitment in providing opportunities for young professionals to express and empower themselves,” Minister Plenipotentiary Josianne Fleming-Artsen concluded.
